About Me

The Full Story

My first job after graduation was at KPMG where I was responsible for reviewing the financial statements of companies like Pepsi and Domino Sugar.  These companies made tangible products that I could see, taste, feel, and smell (on a side note, nothing smells surprisingly worse than a sugar factory).

As I started to explore new opportunities, I interviewed at Fidelity Investments.  After working at companies with simple products like soda and sugar, financial services seemed like the exact opposite.  It was abstract and confusing.  It felt like an elaborate magic trick that you couldn’t quite figure out unless you were on the inside.  Despite my lack of knowledge and experience, I received a job offer, where I worked in internal audit and risk management for approximately 15 years until I had the opportunity to join Coinbase (COIN), a cryptocurrency exchange, as their Head of Enterprise Risk.

Along my journey I’ve become a Certified Public Accountant, a Personal Financial Specialist, and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. If you aren’t familiar with these certifications, don’t worry, it just means that I passed two difficult tests focused on accounting and financial planning. I’m also a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified in Financial Forensics.

Money Bag Walking and Flipping a Coin

History

Walk You To Wealth started as a book about wealth. I wrote it over the course of many years with the sole purpose of simplifying the overly complicated world of personal finance and helping people build real wealth.

I never had a grand plan. I simply had an idea and a methodology that I thought would resonate with people.

As I was finishing up the book in late 2022, I created Walk You To Wealth, LLC. I was still working full-time at Coinbase and didn't have any idea what this would ultimately become. I also purchased this walking money bag, which is actually a non-fungible token (NFT), as I was learning more about NFTs.

Then, one morning, I had a lightbulb moment. As Kobi Yamada so perfectly states in my favorite book of all time, "What Do You Do With an Idea?", "You change the world."

That may sound ridiculous or overly ambitious, but if it weren't, why bother pursuing it?

If you're panicked about money, don't understand the complicated world of investing, or simply need someone to help you figure it all out, that's why this company exists.

The title for the book and name of the company came from the simple and selfless gesture of being walked home. And that's what this company is all about!
